Content For DJs Has Entered the Chat

Why "Content for DJs" Exists (And Why it Matters)

Sooooo... I've been DJing for over 20+ years. I started on vinyl in early 2000's, I evolved through every technology shift, and when I decided to put my effort into find new ways to express my passions for DJ culture... I somehow ended up with around 103K follows and 20 million+ views on via DJ content... just as I turned 40 ðŸĪŠ

And you know what I hear constantly?

ðŸ’Ą
"How do you do it?"

Not "how do you DJ" most of y'all already know that. The real question is: "How do you create content that actually works and how did you get comfortable enough to actually show up?"

I'm someone that likes to yap and because of that I've learned a lot about the challenges and struggles of all the DJs when it comes to putting out content:

  • "I have 6 months of footage on my phone I've never posted"
  • "I don't know what to film or how to edit it"
  • "These younger DJs with way less skill and experience and blowing up and getting more gigs because of their social presence... and I can't even get booked down the street"
  • "I'm a great DJ but terrible at content"

And honestly? I get it. IMO: DJ'ing is EASY, but content is HARD!

The Problem DJs Face (That Nobody's Solving)

Here's the truth: Your DJ skills deserve to be seen and at the very least... your DJ journey needs to be documented

Some of you have spent years perfecting your craft. You're a technician, a curator of vibes, and a master of building a dance floor. You've invested thousands in equipment. You've played hundreds of gigs, read countless rooms, and developed a DJ style and a vibe that's uniquely yours. You're a special kind of DJ weirdo... the kind that should be touring the world and playing all of the best gig out there.

The challenge is... even though you've got the juice, unless someone see's you playing live and killing your set... then it's like a tree falling in the woods with nobody there to hear it. DID IT EVEN HAPPEN?

Or if you are searchable online, all that people can find are a few old photos, a Soundcloud mix from 2014, and some 480p videos from 2015.

But on the flip side... DJs on Instagram and TikTok with a fraction of your experience are literally blowing up doing the "simplest things" and getting booked because they can share who they are and what they do via their DJ content.

  • They know how to film.
  • They know how to edit.
  • They know how to tell their story in a way that makes people want to hire them.

Shiiiit trust me I know. It's not fair. But it is our reality.

The way DJs get new opportunities & get booked has changed. "Social proof" isn't optional, it's a requirement to entry. And for the DJs that just want to do their job and be recognized for what they do... it's a messed up situation and they're struggling to keep up.

Why Most DJ "Content Advice" Doesn't Work

As someone that learned how to create content the hard way... by not going viral and actually doing the damn thing, I've seen a lot of advice other people give DJs about content:

  • "Just post more!"
  • "Use trending sounds!"
  • "Film everything!"
  • "Be consistent!"

Cool story bro, but HOW?

  • How do I know what angles to film from?
  • How do I edit on my phone vs. my computer?
  • What do I do with 2 hours of footage?
  • How do I make my content look professional without expensive equipment?
  • What platform should I focus on?
  • How do I find time to do this while actually DJing?

This is all because generic social media advice doesn't cut it for DJs.

We need DJ specific solutions and we need to understand how to showcase our craft in a way that's authentic to who we are because if you're reading this far... the you 100% care about your DJ craft and not just about chasing trends or clout (although clout is pretty cool NGL).

➡ïļ Enter: "Content For DJs"

All of those reasons are exactly why I'm building out Content For DJs.

This isn't a another generic blah blah marketing funnel type ish of "how to go viral" course nonsense. It's not another social media guru telling you to "just be yourself fam" without actually teaching you how to do tactical things.

Content For DJs is being built for DJ Specific Content Education.

I've put in that work to learn the full end to end content process and I'm gonna do my best to teach you:

  • ✅ How to film your sets (camera angles, lighting, audio capture)
  • ✅ How to edit efficiently - or not efficiently if you're into that kind of thing (mobile and desktop workflows that actually work)
  • ✅ What should YOU create, post, and where should you do it? (platform-specific strategies for TikTok, IG, YouTube)
  • ✅ How to build sustainable systems (so you can create consistently without burning out)
  • ✅ How to monetize your talent (get DJ gig, stream/perform online, create courses, do DJ coaching, get brand deals, sell mixes or other digital products)

All taught by someone who's actually done it and ACTUALLY enjoys doing it! Someone who speaks your language. Someone who understands your pain and by someone who understands DJ culture across generations.

Who is Content for DJs Built For?

Here's what makes Content For DJs different:

We're going to bridge the gap between the vinyl veterans and the digital natives aka the born with an iPhone generation.

Content For DJs is for ALL DJs:

  • The 20 DJ year vet who wants to remain "relevant"
  • The bedroom DJ ready to build an audience
  • The club DJ competing with younger talent
  • The wedding DJ who knows their content could book more gigs
  • The mobile DJ trying to stand out in a crowded market

You level of experience really doesn't matter. But your willingness to learn does #facts

Why Are You Really Doing This...?

The goal is that Content For DJs will teach you everything from strategy to execution and if I haven't learned it yet then...

I'll learn it in public and then teach it (don't talk about it, be about it).

What We're Going to Cover

1. Strategy Before Tactics

Before you film a video, let's help you get clear on:

  • WHY you're creating content (bookings? general audience? income?)
  • WHO you're creating content for (your actual target audience/client)
  • WHAT makes your approach unique (what's your unique angle/voice)
  • HOW to set goals that actually matter (so you don't just quit)

2. Filming Fundamentals

Aka how to capture great footage you can then BEND TO YOUR WILL!

  • Camera angles that showcase your skills
  • Lighting setups that work on any budget
  • Audio capture that actually sounds good
  • Multi-camera techniques for pro-level content
  • What to film at each type of gig
  • LINKS TO ACTUALLY BUY WHAT YOU NEED!

3. Editing Like a Pro

Master the editing process or at the very least... learn how to make it suck less:

  • Mobile editing workflows (CapCut, etc.)
  • Desktop editing systems (CapCut Desktop, Premiere Pro)
  • How to use your DJ skill set to find your own style and leverage your vibes
  • Transitions, effects, and color grading
  • Platform-specific optimization

4. Content Platform Strategy

What makes each platform unique, what to post, when, and why:

  • TikTok vs. Instagram vs. YouTube (Oh My!)
  • Understanding algorithms just enough to be dangerous
  • Creating a sustainable content schedule you might even stick with
  • How to repurpose content across platforms
  • Why community building and engagement is more valuable than likes

5. Monetization Methods (aka C.R.E.A.M.)

If you really want to... you learn how to turn your content into income:

  • Basically... you have skills so how do you package them up in a way thats valuable enough for someone to pay for
  • We'll get into the weeds of this when it makes sense

Process Over Outcome

If you're still reading then you're a real one and I genuinely appreciate you, because this is honestly the most important thing I've learned so far.

The secret formula for content success is:

Commit to the process ➡ïļ fail ➡ïļ learn ➡ïļ get 1% better ➡ïļ repeat 🔁

But the timeline is different for everyone. You just have to find your why and get after it. Because:

content creation is a marathon, not a sprint.

The goal isn't to trick the algorithm or force going viral. The goal is to build skills and systems that let you showcase your craft consistently, authentically, and if done right effectively enough so the right people can find you and want to work with you.

We're Building This Together

My commitment to ya'll is to not just do what I think is right, but to ask questions, listen, and solve the problems that exist and not the ones that just make sense to me. Before I create tutorials, deep dives, or courses... I need YOUR input ðŸŦĩðŸ―.

That's why I created the Content For DJs Survey, because I need to know:

  • What's stopping you from creating content right now?
  • What part of the process feels impossible?
  • What do you wish someone would just teach you?

Your answers will literally shape what we build because at the end of the day I'm trying to help YOU succeed.

Content For DJs is for DJs, by DJs.

And it starts with listening.

We're Building This MF in Public Together

Let's bridge the gap between YOUR skills and YOUR audience.

Same team, same dream and let's get after it ðŸ™ðŸ―
